Update Le 24H Dakar 2009 24h Dakar cancelled, Not enough interest from drivers and teams We regret to inform that 24h Dakar 2009 could not take place due to the lack of interest of the teams.
Most of the teams could not complete their driver’s line-up. The feedback from drivers and teams was not what we expected. Teams warned us already from the beginning when we started enthusiastic with our promotional activities for this new circuit. With less than 15 teams we would not have a good race. People expect from Creventic to have a similar or even better race than our successful 24h of Dubai. DSMEC Teams and drivers love adventure, but Dakar is too much. It is not only asphalt that makes a real race also the amount of teams, more nationalities and the surrounding should fit in their mind setting. Dakar clearly does not have the right mix of all ingredients that decides the driver to come and have their race there. We feel we have done everything in our power to create an infrastructure and environment in which we could have had a very nice and successful race.
It is now up to Creventic to concentrate and to put all energy into the next races; Hope to see you soon.
